the Musician
ilona maluscik
Music is my profession. I came to Switzerland in 1971 and became a naturalized citizen of Zurich four years later. Between the mountains and lakes is my (adopted) home, and I simply feel at home here.
As a professional musician/violinist, I have played in several orchestras in the cantons of Aargau and Thurgau, including the operetta orchestras in Bremgarten, Beinwil am See, Wil SG, and Sirnach. I was also a permanent member of the Thurgau Baroque Ensemble and the Collegium Musicum in St. Gallen.
With my private music school in Leimbach TG and later in Berg TG and Uster, I supported many talented violin students. I also taught violin at the Zurich Youth Music School and the Uster Youth Music School as a vicar. I completed further training in the Suzuki Method for violin at the age of 61.
After training in Schaffhausen, I led various choirs in the canton of Thurgau, finally leading the Reformed church choir in Wängi for 10 years.
During my professional career, I had the privilege of performing with various pianists at countless events, including retirement homes, birthday parties, and more, in the Thurgau, St. Gallen, and Zurich areas. Over these 20 years, we delighted audiences with light classical music, evergreens, film scores, folk songs, and operetta pieces.
